Data use terms
These terms govern the use of the data series displayed and technically provided by Gold Update. They are not a free or transferable standard licence. Last updated: 2 August 2026.
Scope
These terms cover gold-price observations, historical series, currency conversions, hourly and daily values, chart data, calculator outputs and publicly accessible API outputs published by Gold Update. Editorial text, design, images, trade marks and linked content are not covered by these data use terms.
Data sources
Gold prices originate in whole or in part from Gold API. Exchange rates originate from the European Central Bank and are retrieved through Frankfurter. Eurostat data is used only for inflation comparisons. Components supplied by external providers remain subject to their own terms and rights.
Processing by Gold Update
Gold Update records timestamps, performs technical checks, calculates additional currencies and produces hourly and daily values. Such selection, calculation or processing does not mean that Gold Update owns all rights in the underlying data. Gold Update grants rights only to the extent that it is entitled to do so.
Private use
Normal viewing on the website and occasional use of individual values for private, non-commercial and internal purposes are permitted. Uses permitted by law remain unaffected. This permission does not include systematic extraction or publication of substantial parts of the series.
Attribution
Any permitted publication of individual values must state: “Source: Gold Update; underlying gold-price data: Gold API; exchange rates: ECB via Frankfurter”. The access date and a link to the relevant Gold Update page must also be provided. Any changes or calculations made by the user must be identified.
Commercial use and redistribution
Commercial reuse, publication of larger quantities of data, resale, sublicensing and the creation of a competing data product, data feed or public API require prior written permission from Gold Update and, where applicable, the relevant source providers.
Automated access
Systematic automated extraction, bulk downloads, database mirroring and circumvention of technical safeguards or request limits are not permitted without prior written permission. Technical access to a page or API does not constitute any broader permission to use the data.
Accuracy and liability
All values are indicative and may be delayed, incomplete, temporarily unavailable or incorrect. They are not tradable bids or offers and do not constitute financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Values must be checked against a suitable primary source before any economic decision is made.
Third-party rights
These terms do not transfer any rights in data, trade marks or other content belonging to Gold API, Frankfurter, the European Central Bank, Eurostat or any other third party. Any stricter requirements in their terms remain unaffected.
Relationship with other notices
These data use terms supplement the Methodology and data sources, Liability and financial notice, Privacy and Legal notice pages. Mandatory law and directly applicable terms of external data providers take precedence.
Requests and changes
Requests concerning commercial, extensive or automated use may be sent to [email protected]. Gold Update may amend these terms for the future, particularly if its data sources or their terms of use change.
