The USD series begins in January 1985. EUR is available from 4 January 1999 because the historical ECB exchange rates used here start then. Other currencies start with their available exchange-rate series. Daily averages of our observations take precedence over Gold API daily averages; stored World Bank monthly averages are a fallback. A monthly average is not a daily quote. The displayed period always belongs to the selected currency.
